Gerard Hommes Sr. was the first to turn the family's passion into a business as a grower of Iris, Tulips and Daffodils. In the late 1950's Gerard Jr. traveled to the US to find a market for their flower bulbs. This resulted in the creation of Marlboro Bulb Farms with his brother, Art. Bulbs were marketed to growers, landscapers, garden centers and nurseries.

When Gerard's son, Mark Hommes, moved from Holland to the United States in the late 80's, Marlboro Bulb Farm's facilities here expanded. A decade later, inspired by his enjoyment of the time he spent with the growers, exchanging ideas and trying new products and techniques, Mark decided to redirect the focus of the business from the retail market to the needs of the professional grower.

BulbMark® was founded in 1999 with the idea of creating a business that solely focuses on providing top quality material and guidance to small and large cut flower growers. Currently BulbMark services small and large growers in the US and Canada. Our parent company, Hommes Iris BV (in Holland) coordinates, packs, treats and ships all bulbs to the US and Canada. What we don't grow ourselves, we aquire from select growers with which we have enjoyed a long standing relationship.

Prior to shipment all bulbs are inspected by the USDA to be free of soil, pest or diseases. From all bulbs that we ship, samples are taken and grown by our company in Holland to ensure that all the bulbs that we received from our growers are true to variety and of top quality.
